Ryan Vilcin is an ASHA certified speech and language pathologist licensed in the state of Massachusetts who has been practicing since 2007. In addition to providing traditional speech and language services, she is also a literacy, writing, and academic coach. Ryan is trained in a number of programs, including Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing, as well as Seeing Stars, and Read Naturally, to name a few.
Ryan believes it is critical to look at children as individuals. No two children are the same, and there is no "one size fits all" educational program for students. Careful assessment of a student, caregiver input, and information from other professionals who may work with the student are all essential pieces of the puzzle necessary to develop a unique intervention. Ryan has found her students are most successful when their intervention is truly tailored to meet their individual needs, as opposed to a whole group.
The students with whom Ryan works range from preschool to high school. They may be discovering some learning just isn't coming easily, while others may have a suspected diagnosis or an assigned diagnosis, such as specific learning disabilities in reading and writing, dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, visual and/or auditory processing disorder, or difficulties with memory, processing, executive function, and even motivation. Ryan has experience working with students who are below grade level, at grade level, and even above grade level.
When Ryan isn't working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She loves to travel and adventure with her family.
